How Mship works
The five-step workflow, what a mentor can do, Mship AI, and how one mentor-owned record per student is shared read-only with the student's family after admin review.
Five steps, every student, every week
01
Onboard
Bring on a student with their subjects and schedule.
02
Plan
Build an academic plan across every subject.
03
Teach
Start a live class or log one after the fact.
04
Record
Track activities, exams, and weekly reports.
05
Grow
See performance signals and earnings, over time.
Everything a mentoring practice needs, nothing it doesn't
Live class timer
A monospaced, tabular timer for the class in progress, start to end.
Academic plans
Subject-by-subject progress with full plan history.
Weekly reports
Autosaving reports with offline and conflict recovery.
Earnings
A monthly total broken down by source.
Replacements
Mentor-to-mentor substitute classes, tracked end to end.
Mship AI
A cascading wizard from student down to generated content.
A cascading wizard, not a blank prompt box
Narrow down from student to topic, pick an action, and generate structured content with a full version history.
Built around how tutoring actually works
- One record per class — no more scattered notes across chat threads.
- Reports that autosave, with an honest conflict state instead of silent overwrites.
- Earnings broken down by source, not just a single lump total.
- Performance signals that read like feedback, not a leaderboard.
How the pieces connect
Mentor
Owns the relationship, the schedule, and the record.
Student
One plan, one history, one place their progress lives.
Class
The unit of work — live or logged, always recorded.
Report
A weekly rollup the mentor writes and the student's family reads.
Who creates a student record?
The mentor. Every student belongs to exactly one mentor, who schedules classes, writes reports, and tracks the academic plan — the student's entire record traces back to that one relationship.
What does the mentor actually record?
Classes (live-timed or logged after the fact), weekly reports, exam and activity results, and academic plan progress. Each class becomes a permanent record the moment it's started or logged — never a note that can silently disappear.
How does a student or parent see any of this?
Through a read-only portal scoped to that one student. They never see a mentor's raw report text directly — an admin reviews and curates it first, so only a checked, family-facing summary reaches them.
What does the admin layer add?
Oversight without owning the day-to-day record: curating reports before they reach a family, reviewing flagged or disputed entries, and managing mentor-facing programs like payment rules, reliability standing, and recognition.
Does a mentor ever see another mentor's students?
No. Every query in Mship that touches a student is scoped by the requesting mentor's own id — one mentor's students, classes, and reports are never visible to another mentor.
